In a previous post I mentioned that I setup a new Ubuntu box based on a Nforce 2 mother board. Well everything works nicely except for the sound, I only get 2 channels. 
I tweaked the alsconfig and it now produces the correct output from all 6 speakers when I run…
$speaker-test -Dplug:surround51 -c6 -twav
But no applications uses this device, i am now trying to get any app to use 5.1 so that I can play some music over a sub again!!
