So the IPhone 3G was launched in South Africa in the wee hours of yesterday, what is it all about and more importantly is it worth the R 6 389.00 price tag for the 8gb?
A whole lot of people certainly think so. When Vodacom announced that in partnership with Vodafone, they will bring the Iphone to SA, people where so excited, pre-launch orders where flowing in, everyone in the local technosphere, wanted to get their hands on one! I was not that impressed by reviews I read, I prefer functionality over design and innovation, who cares if it can turn the screen when you turn the, phone can it mms, and sync with Exchange server?
Over the last couple of months, untouched by the apple spin doctors media hype, which all the yuppies and rappers seam to fall for these days, I upgraded my phone to the HTC touch, what a great little phone it turned out to be, not even mentioning all the features and possibility for expansion Windows mobile 6 brings, the mere fact that it can fit in my pocket without to much effort was great!
But anyway, the IPhone, it looks great, works well enough it would appear. My only concern is that it may be a glorified IPod, which can make a few calls and sms. I need a business phone, not a toy, or an mp3 player, an mp3 player riddled with DRM I might add 
So I will be waiting for my hands on test, before i make any further judgement!
