I am seriously getting frustrated, with this IR Transmitter, this is a vital part of my build and it is getting me under! I have gotten the PVR150’s IR Blaster to work, well as mentioned it blinks and it does appear to transmit when commanded to, but my DSTV decoder is not working!! I tried loads of scripts and still nothing, I used mark’s send_power_new, and it ran for about 10mins, blinking away as it should but still nothing, no response from the decoder…
Yet another late night for me, I have most of the software sorted out now, and my setup is running semi-usable. I got the TV guide working and integrated, it works great, I can see what is showing when with synopsis and some other meta-data and I can even schedule recordings from a web interface and afterwords download or stream it, I don’t have the streaming working yet, but the functionality is there. My next mission which took up most of last night was, trying to get the IR Blaster, aka transmitter working.
Wow, what a weekend, I went to watch The Dark Knight on iMax and it was great, watch the rugby had a few drinks, and continued with my HTPC build. Headaches galore from hangovers and head-bashing caused by struggling into the wee hours of the night! But I have made some progress.
Saw this today and thought it was brilliant!! Modifying hardware to play tunes!

I bought myself a new LCD to replace the LG 20″ I had for about a month. I only used it for 10days… There was a problem with the backlight driver on the LG, upon doing some further research I discovered it was a common problem with that specific model. The LG I had was a 204WT-BF 20.1″ Wide. I had it credited and opted for something different, in fact I got a totally different brand. I decided to go for the 22″ Samsung SyncMaster 2243BWX Wide Screen LCD.

Nvidia wants to buy Ageia, now for those of you who don’t know, Ageia is the company behind PhysX, a physics processing chip. I think the whole PPU (physics processing unit) thing is just hype I have seen no “real” enhancement of any game’s look or feel. So why would NVidia believe that this would be of benefit to any one? Well only time will tell.
