The Game of Life by John Conway, has fasinated me for sometime, I recently discovered a website with short titbits about it all and some java applets to illustrate how it all works.
I played around with it and soon I was hooked I “designed” my own little “glider” and I found that the emergent behaviour was quite nice. I call it Order out of Chaos, because it starts out as what seams to be a random placement of cubes and turns into a “walker” and a static cube, quite nice for my first “LifeHack” attempt.
Try it for yourself

Lol seams like I was hacked, some fool deleted all my wordpress installs, lucky for me, I had backups and I could get everything back to normal within about 30mins after I discovered the problem!
A valuable lesson was learnt, update update update…. I upgraded to version 2.5 of wordpress and about a day after 2.5.1 was released I just didn’t feel like downloading and installing all over again, oh boy was I wrong… lol the “hacker” even had a sense of humour, after publishing my online banking phishing scam post, he deleted everything and replaced it with bank-of-america.com lure sites… hehe. He probably was using fresh, newly created email accounts but they will be unusable in a while, expect some very nice A-grade German porn to hit your mailbox very soon….
just as a thank you for waking me up….

The issue regarding Phishing and Online Banking is one that has been discussed allot in recent times. Banks in South Africa have been especially plagued by this, every once in a while I have heard from friends and family that they received strange email messages, instructing them to fill in their internet banking credentials, as far as I can I have evangelized the anti-Phishing gospel, and have had success, my mother recently received an email message instructing her to change her Online Banking Credentials, lucky for her I had been brain washing her to just ignore any email which asks any information with regards to Online Banking! She took a printed copy of the email to her bank branch and at enquirers the person told her: “The bank sometimes sends out emails like that and that she didn’t have to worry about it”, I was shocked beyond believe when I heard this, how could a employee of the bank who works at enquirers, not know that this was a scam? Are the banks people not educated in the matters at hand!!

In the recent months, I have been trying to cope with the constant attack of malware on all of my (windows) home pc’s. Feeling like I am figthing a war, trying to protect the users of the systems. Most of the times I needed to manually “remove” the infection from the PC’s because the anti-virus program, does not believe the infection is of a viral kind, this is like a Doctor telling a patient, hmm I can see nothing wrong with you, the blood pouring from your eyes is not a symptom of any known illness or virus, it is sure to clear up in a day or three. I think I will just ignore it…
