The Game of Life by John Conway, has fasinated me for sometime, I recently discovered a website with short titbits about it all and some java applets to illustrate how it all works.

I played around with it and soon I was hooked I “designed” my own little “glider” and I found that the emergent behaviour was quite nice. I call it Order out of Chaos, because it starts out as what seams to be a random placement of cubes and turns into a “walker” and a static cube, quite nice for my first “LifeHack” attempt.

I have been doing some research lately for a future project and I came across a plethora of information, and just as many products and ebooks on the subject, but some of the sites where real dodgy looking, and I started to wonder how I could tell if it was a scam or not…

It has been yet another Phuza Thursday, for me, yesterday was my birthday, and i decided to grab a few drinks with some friends, well as it always happens a few turned into a couple a couple turned into a lot, and before I knew it it was 2am, and I needed to get ready for work in about three and a half hours!

I discovered twitter awhile back and I must say it is growing on me. I know I am behind, twitter has been around for awhile! Twitter is as, Nicholas Carr, Author and Technologist put it; “…the telegraph system of Web 2.0.” and it truly is! Think of facebook’s, is “…” on your profile, you know that place where you put in what you are doing and other people see stuff like “John is planning world domination” or “Sara is doing homework”. Twitter can be described as, facebook minus everything except those little “is messages” and people love it!

Web 2.0 as you may or may not, know is the latest buzz word on the Interweb, well actually it is getting quite old now, but nevertheless it still is all the rage, think facebook, think twitter think well this very blog! So web2.0 is, from the wikipedia: “enhance creativity, information sharing, and, most notably, collaboration among users”. I have started to read some stuff by Tim O’Reilly and it is just, excellent because Tim has a unique and very expert view on everything tech and all the latest trends… Anyway back to the point, I recently read an article about web2.0 written by Tim in 2005 and it was very good and thought provoking, it made me think, what if I took the game industry and made the same web1.0 VS web2.0 comparison? Lol seams like I was hacked, some fool deleted all my wordpress installs, lucky for me, I had backups and I could get everything back to normal within about 30mins after I discovered the problem!

A valuable lesson was learnt, update update update…. I upgraded to version 2.5 of wordpress and about a day after 2.5.1 was released I just didn’t feel like downloading and installing all over again, oh boy was I wrong… lol the “hacker” even had a sense of humour, after publishing my online banking phishing scam post, he deleted everything and replaced it with bank-of-america.com lure sites… hehe. He probably was using fresh, newly created email accounts but they will be unusable in a while, expect some very nice A-grade German porn to hit your mailbox very soon…. just as a thank you for waking me up….

The inventor of the junction transistor has died at age 91. This man was one of the many people responsible for giving us Processors and most electronic devices we use every single day!

Rest in peace Morgan, your Spark will remain to touch our lives forever.
